It is an honor to serve as Chair of the North Florida Workforce Development Board and to be a part of a team that exists to help members of our community thrive and grow.
As a business-led Board, we want to bring best practices to government programs and services. As the “Go-To Place for Jobs and Training” the mission of our Board is to carefully oversee the resources provided to our Region and support the staff to achieve ever increasing goals of successful outcomes and operational efficiencies in these challenging economic times, by providing skilled workforce in response to employers’ needs. We want to ensure that local businesses have a continuing flow of qualified workers from entry level through professional levels.
This is important to attract new businesses, retain our existing business, support business expansion, and ultimately the economic well-being of the entire state. On an individual basis, it means assisting job seekers to develop the skills they need to be successfully employed in a changing economy. Making a good match between employers and employees is a win-win situation and one that results in far-reaching benefits for everyone.
Staffs in our Career Centers are working hard to meet the needs of our job seekers and the businesses we serve. They have worked hard to make certain our programs and services are structured and delivered in a manner to ensure local businesses have access to a skilled workforce and that every job seeker has access to meaningful employment. Their efforts are seen by the number of job placement successes reflected in the Governor’s job placement report over the last few years.
Our Youth Program continues to be a major priority. The foundation of our future economic viability lies within our ability to mold today’s youth into the jobholders of tomorrow. Our results are accomplished through emphasis on mentoring, education, and relevant work experience programs.
