The Able Trust Vision

Established in 1990, the vision of The Able Trust is that any Floridian with disabilities can achieve their employment potential. As we work in communities across Florida, our youth programs are helping students with disabilities develop their employment goals and learn about postsecondary and career options as they plan their future.

Florida High School/High Tech (HS/HT) is designed to provide high school students with all types of disabilities the opportunity to explore jobs or postsecondary education leading to technology- related careers. HS/HT links youth to a broad range of academic, career development and experiential resources and experiences that will enable them to meet the demands of the 21st century workforce.

HSHT students are provided transition services based on the nationally recognized Guideposts for Success: school-based preparatory experiences, career preparation and work-based learning, connecting activities, youth leadership and development, family involvement and support and communication skills.

In doing so, HSHT is able to boast a 99% graduation rate annually, twice the rate of all other students with disabilities in the state of Florida. Furthermore, 83% of Florida HSHT graduates entering post-secondary education, continuing education or employment, compared to 50% of other graduates with disabilities in Florida.
